Back in the 1980s IT became quickly the biggest support function to the core business of any company. Bringing speed, data, reporting and countless analysis tools to the game. Then, IT became the core business of many companies, no matter of their products and services. During the last couple of years IT very slowly went back to what it originally was meant to be: a support function, helping us to get better in what we do. But it matured in this transition. Steering tech developments as well as organizational trends within its reach.

Today IT is as common as every other function within countless organizations .. and it has to fight to get noted. This is what this article is about.
